Well, I am stiff and a bit sore today, but I'm officially ranked now! ...At sixth kyu, which is the lowest rank, and I think some schools don't even recognize a rank that low, but dang it, at least now the belt I wear to practice is worth a bit more than just something to tie my gi together with. It's not like I get a colored belt, mind you--in Aikido, you're a white belt until you're a black belt--but just knowing that I'm no longer officially a beginner after two years of on-again, off-again practice makes me very happy.
Of course, having two years of on-again, off-again practice made the test not terribly difficult at all, though you wouldn't have been able to tell by my frazzled nerves. Tests of any kind make me antsy.
In other news, my thesis has been deemed 'defensible' by Dr. Z, so now I'm scrambling to get a defense date scheduled. I'll probably end up classified as a summer graduate, but I should still be able to walk this spring, which is the important thing. Hooray! I'm gonna get hooded!
